Dressing, a Thankgiving recipe

Julie Mom, this one's for you. I do warn you, however, that my recipes are not exact. I bake with exact measure, but the rest of my cooking is more "iffy". As one lady put it, I never get tired of my own cooking because nothing ever comes out the same way twice!

Dressing (or Stuffing) whatever you like to call it!
5 cups stale bread cubes
5 cups cornbread, roughly cubed
1/4 cup butter
1 onion, chopped
2 cups chopped celery
chicken or turkey broth, about 2 cups
1 egg
salt
pepper
sage

mix the bread cubes together
Saute the onion and celery in butter until crisp-tender
Add to bread
Add the egg, slighlty whisked, to broth
Pour the broth-egg mixture over the bread and stir until wet but no dripping.
Add salt, pepper and sage to taste

Pour into a buttered casserole dish, cover with foil and bake at medium for about an hour.

We love this stuff!

Wow, that's my recipe for cornbread dressing minus the bread. I usually don't use bread in mine, since Mama didn't.
Bet dinner's gonna be good at your house!

And I love the quote about cooking. It fits my style perfectly... :0) I'm gonna make this!

By the way, how many people will this feed?

I don't really know. I am guessing 6 to 8, depending on how much they like stuffing. i like to make a lot so that there are leftovers for the turkey sandwiches!

hi Tori! yep, its your basic dressing. We like the texture of the white bread with the corn bread.
We are trying to figure out how we can not gain weight this week!

Thanks Rhonda! I think I'm gonna add some dried cranberries too. Crazy? If you want to not gain weight this week, maybe only smell the food. And lick the bowls when they're emptied.

I'm just full of good advice. :0)
