Drive-by posting

I really shouldn't take the time to do this, as we are so pressed for time.
However:
Neil was told that they OK'd his visa, but it will take about 3 weeks to get it. It ain't over until the fat lady sings. No singing until the visa is HERE!

New missionaries, the Reyes family arrived last week. They will be staying with us until we leave, and satying in our house while we are gone. We are so glad that they are here.

I am on overload due to all that must be done before furlough. Please pray for me.
I am hoping that we will get almost everything done before we go so taht we can take a few days off on arrival to enjoy the US.

By the way, what do y0u like to see in a missionary display, and what do you like to see in a missionary presentation? Do you like them long, or short? What do people really like to know about missionaries?

Thanks for the imput.

Long or short doesn't matter to me. I want to see the missionary's heart shine through. I like a few "travel documentary" photos and facts; but let me see and hear the testimonies of people who are being changed and impacted ... that stays with me longer than even the best photograph.

My Favorite Missionary presentation included the phrase "Missions is more than just pictures on a display. Missions is people. I am a missionary today because of the work of a missionary in my country." I think you might know this particular missionary!

I also love to hear testimonies from people who have been saved or helped in the ministry. Seeing the faces of people you have helped to know Christ through your support can be life changing. Pictures of church services, and hearing a congregation singing hymns in another language touches my heart! Also, I want to know how people respond to the gospel, and if the soil is hard or if the people are ready to receive the gospel. It helps me know how to pray. Missions work is different than work in the states. (We meet in a back yard!) but the basic facts of ministry are the same. People need the Lord, and He does the same work all over the world.

I met a missionary with that testimony Pastor Eldred! Does he happen to be from India?

I'll be praying for you Ronda! We've never met, but I frequent your blog and pray for your requests.

Hey, Bro Charlie! Yes, I know that missionary! We'll be calling soon about scheduling. Neil is more in the mood now since his visa was approved!

Sarah Joy!
Yes, you are right, I think that some singing video would be great. We have a new missionary here that could help us with that!

I really liked the last missionary presentation I saw because they showed a lot from their church services and had people from their congregation give their salvation testimony and also how they are serving the Lord now. I also like to know the day-to-day ins and outs of a missionary's life--how they spend their time. etc...

Blessings my friend!

I agree with Pastor Eldred, I like a few facts but more personal tesimonies from the people. The presentation that I remember most was when the missionary translated for his people to personally talk to the churches. Wow, how powerful it was to hear straight from the people that you help support & pray for.
