A fabulous birthday gift

Most Americans do not realize that South America is not Mexico. They assume that you can get delicious Mexican food all over the place. Unfortunately, this is not the case at all. So, we must make all our Mexican, or Tex Mex, from scratch. Being Californian, we cannot live without our Mexican food!

I celebrated my 37th birthday last week. My Mom gave me this wonderful tortilla press/cooker.
It presses and cooks at the same time. And the best part is, its 220 v, so I don't have to use a huge transformer like when I use my waffle maker!
I've already made tortilllas, and they turned out great! Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday! And congratulations on the fabulous gift.

I will admit that I assumed you eat fabulous Mexican food all of the time. So what kind of food do South Americans eat?

Okay, first off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, did you say how old and I missed it???

Secondly, I want one of those!!! How long does it take to cook each tortilla? Being from Texas we love texmex and eat it at least once a week. Do you know where she got it? Super cool gift, yea for Mom!

Thank you, Michele and Tori!
Chilean eat almost no mexican food. They eat soups and tasty but simple food. I'll try to get some pics of Chilean food up.

Tori, you NEED one of these things. It takes less time than a waffle. There is a bit of a trick to it, I did some research online first. If you press to hard too long, the steam that is released breaks the tortilla.

I may even try to film a tutorial!
