I skimmed a book last week and read this great quote. The problem is that I can't remember the quote exactly nor can I remember who said it. Anyway here it is:
"Do you embrace today that which shocked you yesterday?"
To which I answer with another question:
"Why?"

And I think one reason'why?' is because we start looking at other Christians instead of Christ and the Bible.
You know....'So and so' thinks (fill in the blank) is o.k. and they love the Lord, so maybe we were wrong about that.
Yep, that's it! Surely if Beth Moore or Joyce Meyer can preach to men and women, and the Lord really uses her, it must be OK, right?

Nope, I'm not that deep. I just related it to Churchy things. Like, 30 years ago, it would have bees shocking to go to a Church and find a band onstage or anywhere in the Church. Now its "normal". Why is it "normal" now? In most IBF Churches, women don't preach , yet now, they'll accept women prachers as "OK". Why is it ok now? and not back when?

I thought of another 'why?' to your quote....
When we start allowing those things into our lives, then we start becoming desensitized to things....and that starts us down a slippery slope.

have you heard the illustration of the frog in the cooking pot? if you put a frog in hot water, he'll automatically jump out, but if you put him in cool water and heat the water up..... he'll stay right there, and cook.
that's what we do to ourselves all the time. we cook ourselves slowly in the sin of the world.
