Isn't this great?

I received the coolest compliment last night. We had a visiting pastor yesterday for our anniversary Sunday. After a long, tiring, but special day, we came home and I whipped us up some leftovers. As we ate, our friend said to me, “Your kids seem happy. I’ve know so many PKs and MKs that are so unhappy. Yours seem happy”.

This tells me a lot, because disobedient kids are not happy. Bitter kids arent’t happy (duh)
My kids are happy!!! So, in spite of the Preacher’s and my faults and shortcomings as parents, my kids are happy!

Thank you Lord!

That's a blessing that your children are happy. That does say alot about the home life. Our kids come across as happy most of the time. We don't get the compliments about that though...we get the compliments that they are good and/or godly kids and that they are well-behaved. Well...shouldn't they be well-behaved?? If they weren't...then that would say something REALLY BAD about me huh? I'm thankful for my kids and the testimony they have before others. You should be very thankful as well!! What a blessing!

What a lovely compliment. I always imagined your kiddies being happy even though I have not met you.

BTW what are PKs and MKs? I'm just getting the hang of internet acronyms via FlyLady and Blogging ;o)

Mrs. Blythe....PKs are Preacher's or Pastor's Kids and MKs is Missionary's Kids. It's kinda hard on these two groups of kids too....unfortunately...PKs and MKs are looked at very closely. In some cases they are thought to supposed to be perfect. Our kids are NOT perfect. They are kids just like anyone else's kids. My husband and I have faced times when our kids were cut down for just being normal everyday kids. But I think people tend to think that they are supposed to be these super spiritual individuals just because they are kids of pastors or missionaries. But they are normal human beings afterall. The devil will sometimes attack them more than the average kid but that is to be expected as well. So it is a real blessing when you find some kids that fit into these two groups that are "happy" just because there is so much pressure put on those kids.

I'm glad your children are happy. That means that even though you are committed in working hard in your mission work, but still make time for the emotional needs of the family.

Oh how sweet. Isn't that what we all desire, to know that we're doing a good job? What a blessing.

I have linked over and am glad to find you! Yes, often MK's are the worst one's on the block! Is it because their parents pour out their lives to ministry and neglect the home? My babies are small, and if you've got good advice how to avoid this, I am all ears. Oh and also - you home school, how do your kids pick up the language, with friends, or you study it at home? Something I am considering when thinking of homeschooling vs not.

Thank you all! Hello Tori and Michelle, Welcome!
Thanks to Hermana Julie for explaining pastoral jargon to Mrs. Blythe.

Michelle, I tried to comment on your blog, but got on error message from blogger. We have been wroking here for 10 years, but this year we are in the process of starting a deaf ministry. We have 2 deaf men who have been saved. Its a fun challenge! I'll be over to you blog when I can!
