So I don't like poetry.....

But I do like music and have a tremendous appreciation for certain lyrics. So what's the difference? Why do I shy away from poetry?
I have been thinking about the song lyrics that have influenced me through the years. I can still remember songs from our Church choir from when I was seven. Right now, I am becoming more aquainted with Charles Wesley hymns. Two BIG favorites, "And can it be?" and "Arise, my soul, arise"

Arise, my soul, arise; shake off thy guilty fears; The bleeding sacrifice in my behalf appears:Before the throne my surety stands,Before the throne my surety stands,My name is written on His hands.

He ever lives above, for me to intercede; His all redeeming love, His precious blood, to plead:His blood atoned for all our race,His blood atoned for all our race,And sprinkles now the throne of grace.

Five bleeding wounds He bears; received on Calvary; They pour effectual prayers; they strongly plead for me:“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,“Nor let that ransomed sinner die!”

The Father hears Him pray, His dear anointed One;He cannot turn away, the presence of His Son;His Spirit answers to the blood,His Spirit answers to the blood,And tells me I am born of God.

My God is reconciled; His pardoning voice I hear;He owns me for His child; I can no longer fear:With confidence I now draw nigh,With confidence I now draw nigh,And “Father, Abba, Father,” cry

There are several more verses and I love them all. This song is recorded by the John Marshall Family. I get goosebumps everytime I hear it. The Preacher doesn't even understand all the lyrics, and he gets goosebumps. (The Preacher speaks ESL)

Blessings and Joy,
R

Beautiful Rhonda. I've not heard that one before!

What is Malmstrom thalen talking about, have I missed something or are you a victim of blog-spam?

I have no idea what that's all about! I'll try to figure out how to get rid of it. At least its not obscene!

You should hear the rest of the song!

There we go! That was easier than I thought. I have never had to delete a comment, so I never noticed the trash can! Duh.

Hi Rhonda!

'And Can It Be' is one of my favourite hymns!

Also to keep from getting spam comments, maybe you need to turn your word verification on.

Blessings,
